what is work place bullying

Many people have asked me what I mean buy work place bullying, well what I experienced was what you call mental Bullying and sometimes name calling.

You see I worked with someone, who for their own reasons or that of the company decided they were not going to speak to me and be sly by changing things I had done, to drop me in it so to speak.

Overs ie:- My supervisor would tell me I smelled, pick up on little this that had no significance, always find fault with my work and tell me everything was my own fault, another one would use sexual innuendo's such as one time when I was shaking my leg under the table, she said what you doing having a wank, I did reply back no I had one last night, but that besides the point, another time she said to me after I had been on a date, when I said the woman I met was 6ft 6ins she said, was she a trany, always asking me about my sex life, at times it got embarrassing, then a set of keys went missing out of my draw in the office, this is what really tipped me over the edge, because I was accused of losing them on the way home as at the time I was suffering with Stress, yet again using my mental health against me and not for the 1st time.

There was the time the HR manager phoned me to as I thought to see how I was but no at the end of the conversation, he asked if I had found the keys, when I replied no he informed me I would have to have a disciplinary over the matter, no concern about my mental health as this was what I was off sick with at the time "Work Related Stress".

The following examples show the many forms that bullying and harassment can take:
•  withholding information that affects other people’s jobs
•  humiliating or ridiculing others about their work
•  ordering others to work below their level of competence for no reason
•  removing areas of responsibility without consultation
•  spreading rumours or gossip
•  ignoring or sending others to ‘Coventry’
•  making insulting or offensive comments about others
•  shouting and getting abusive with others
•  pointing your finger, invading personal space, shoving, blocking or barring the way
•  suggesting that others should resign
•  constantly highlighting errors or mistakes made by others
•  being hostile to others
•  constantly criticising others’ work and efforts
•  ignoring the views of others
•  playing practical jokes on people you don’t like
•  setting unreasonable tasks or deadlines
•  making false allegations against others
•  engaging in excessive monitoring of the work of others
•  removing the rights of others
•  threatening violence to others
•  physically attacking others
•  using malicious or insulting language.

As you can see there are many and a few of these are what happened to me.

Someone once said to me that I was a coward for allowing this to happen to me, well my answer to them is, sorry the only person who is a coward is the person doing the bullying.

Many bullies or people who do the bullying I should say, don't realise the long lasting effects it can have on the victims mental health, I still suffer now for what I went through, yet the people or should I say person who done it to me are still allowed to work within the firm.

Lets put it this way Karma has a way of coming around and biting them on the backside and allowing you to be there to see it happen.
