Is Kevin Pietersen right about a bullying Culture within the England Cricket Team and The ECB come that, Well yes and no is how I feel.
I am half way through his book and it is an interesting read and yes some people love him and some people hate him, but he was one hell of a cricketer.
My feeling he was used as a scapegoat by The ECB, top run scorer in the Ashes, England Lose 5-0 and someone had to be blamed for it, can he really have been wrong about Peter Moores when Michael Vaughan couldn't take the constant team meetings, physical training, not skills training but Physical, running, press ups, sit ups, 10 mile runs, on one tour New Zealand, England got off the Plane, Hotel and then straight to training within 1 1/2 hours of getting off the plain, the New Zealanders there laughing at them thinking what they were doing, KP affectionately calls Moores the woodpecker because he would be constantly pecking at you.
They had team meetings, about having team meetings to see if they were going to have a team meeting, Players like Michael Vaughan ended up with burn out because of what Moores methods were.
Pietersen after the 2nd Test of the 2009 Ashes Series had to have an operation on his Achilles, to help with a problem he was having, the England Physio was there taking photo's of the operation and then left, KP had to make his own way home, hail a taxi, get in the taxi and also carry his bag, basically "Sorry mate you have had the operation I am off see you later".
He goes into the time that Jonathon Trott lost it with Matt Prior in Bangladesh, because of his constant nit picking, what was it Trott left the game for awhile with ah yes A STRESS RELATED ILLNESS, I am beginning to wonder if this constant nit picking was allegedly the reason why this illness happened.
I should know I have been there and had it happen to me twice and it is something you never really get over.
Do I think there is a culture of bullying within the England Cricket team yes, within the ECB no, yet I do believe they did brush the issue under the carpet, thinking it would go away.
The ECB needs to change Dinosaurs running an organisation in the modern world, why are they not asking people like, Alec Stewart and Graham Thorpe to help out over 200 test caps between them.
I take my hat off to KP for exposing it, brave to do so and has probably burnt many bridges with it but 1 current and 1 former England players have said he is not to far away from the truth.
